Clark and Sharon Bastian, Fidelity Bank give $500,000 to WSU business school
10/5/2020Wichita State University alums Clark and Sharon Bastian have pledged $250,000 and Fidelity Bank has contributed a matching amount to make a total gift of $500,000 in support of WSU's campaign to fund a new state-of-the-art home for the W. Frank Barton School of Business. This amount is in addition to financial gifts from members of the Bastian family and the Fidelity Bank Foundation in 2018, which totaled $1 million.
“Sharon and I are grateful for the quality education, fond memories and formative life lessons that came from our time at Wichita State,” said Clark Bastian, chairman of Fidelity Bank. “Through this gift, our family is helping to build a magnificent space for future generations of Shockers to experience the boundless opportunities that come from collaboration, innovation and entrepreneurial pursuits. For us, it is a deep source of pride.”
The new 136,000 square-foot Woolsey Hall is to be located in the heart of WSU’s Innovation Campus. Groundbreaking for the new building is scheduled for October 22. The project aligns with Fidelity Bank’s focus on supporting the overall economic health and prosperity of the Wichita region.
“The progress of our family business and the city we call home is only possible when people work together toward a shared vision,” said Aaron Bastian, Fidelity’s president and CEO. “Woolsey Hall will be so much more than a building. It will serve as a connecting point for students, businesses and community partners to learn from each other and nurture the type of innovative ideas that will help Wichita meet its great potential.”
