For the third consecutive year Kansas Council of Residential Specialists (CRS) has partnered with Numana, an international hunger relief organization. Since Numana was formed in 2008, it has packed 37 million meals with the help of 197,000 volunteers all over the United States. At the August 27th event, 300 volunteers will be packing 50,000 meals in a goal time of two hours. To learn more about this event visit www.numanainc.com.

The objective of Avenue Art Days is to harness some of the untapped creative abilities of Wichita’s emerging young designers and artists. Since this event began in the fall of 2015, the Douglas Design District has hosted two Avenue Art Days events yielding 40 art installations and engaged hundreds of volunteers to clean and paint every light pole in the vibrant colors of the Douglas Design District. This special event will continue annually along Douglas Avenue initially broadening the scope and later rotating out murals maintaining an ever-evolving active art exhibit. This community centered event provides a safe place for children to enjoy fun and festive Halloween activities such as a pumpkin painting contest, a pumpkin patch, “haunted” haystack rides, scare zones, and much more. All proceeds support the Tanganyika Winter Fund which helps provide for year-round care of the animals.
